More tracker thoughts

Filed under: Evolution of a new tracker — Joe Brewer @ 6:38 pm

Since I had a few more ideas for features, and the progress of coding my dream tracker is going quite well I thought I’d post an update.

Here are a few more features that I’ll be adding in the coming weeks:

  1. The ability to create ads so that the reports can show which ones are performing well.  Prosper already does this, but at the moment there is no support for adding pictures, and as platforms like facebook, myspace and the new plenty of fish platform use pictures I thought it would be a good idea to add this in.
  2. The ability to add campaigns that use dayparting.  This would work a bit like the offer rotation execpt it would use mysql’s date functions to determin which offer to show.  This would enable offers to be show only between specific times, after specific dates, on specific days of the week…. the dayparting would only be limited by what mysql can do with dates.

  1. This is a interesting project as I have a ton of frustrations with finding a tracker that does it all for me. If your tracker can combine functions from PPV Dominator, Prosper202 and tracking 202 pro then youll surely have a ultimate tracker.

A major downfall of most trackers is that they dont handle LP rotations well which PPVD does really well and it also dont allow creation/use of tokens like PPVD and LPGen. I definitly would then want to see 202s automatic account syncing with the PPC, PPV, and Social Adnetworks. All of this mixed with being able to track double conversions on 1 subid and seamless reporting of revenue and cost would really kick most trackers behind.

  2. Your tracker sounds like it’s interesting. But doesn’t it make more sense to build on prosper202? I mean it’s proven, secure, and works pretty good. It seems to me if you mod on top of that, the entire engine would be already done. The rest is pretty easy. You could even branch it (I think) based on the open source license. Anyway…. I’ll keep watching to see how this shapes up!

  3. Thanks for your interest. I did put some thought into modifying prosper202, but I decided against it as I would have to familiarise myself with all of the code (and there is alot!) to see whether my ideas could be easily implemented. Plus hacking other peoples code with mods may break the security – even though its a secure tracker does not mean it will stay that way if I mod it.

  4. Thanks for your interest. Landing page rotation and offer rotation will soon be done. I’ll have to look at PPVD to see what you mean by using tokens. Syncing of cost data with PPV networks is going to be tricky – need to blog about this to get an idea of what is possible and what people think of potential solutions. Tracking of double conversions with one subid can be supported although no reports that I have written show double conversions.
