TED 2008 is just around the corner

Filed under: Inspiration — Joe Brewer @ 7:06 pm

I’ve just received an email informing me that the TED conference for 2008 is just around the corner. You can watch the live introduction here on Thursday, February 28 at 5:15pm US/Pacific time.

I first heard of the TED conferences about 8 months ago when I received an email from Bill O’Hanlon in August last year about stretching your mind and getting you to think in new ways. Bill publishes a great newsletter and it’s well worth subscribing to.

For those of you have have not heard about TED, it is a unique conference with presentations from great thinkers and performers. Many of the talks will blow your socks off, and are inspiring and entertaining.

Some of the presentations that I have particulaly enjoyed recently are Malcolm Gladwell’s talk on “What we can learn from spaghetti source“, Vilayanur Ramachandran’s on “A journey to the center of your mind“, Art Benjamin’s presentation of “Mathemagic

I found this talk by J.J. Abrams on mystery particulaly cool. Abrams is particulaly confident and charismatic

Cool huh? 🙂

Two cool things that I have learnt in the past week

Firstly I have learnt that the Hollywood writers strike is over. This means that Heroes, my favourite series since the x files, will be back on TV. Unfortunately, I dont think it is going to hit tv here in the UK until well into 2009, but at least I know it is on it’s way. I love Heroes.

Secondly, I have learnt some important business lessons this week. Tuesday evening I saw two new clients at The Olive Tree and I learnt that the hypnotherapy that I am offering them is really starting to make an impact. They have, so far, booked clients to see me to well into March. Anyway, the business lessons that I have learnt are to network with other business people in your niche (in my case psychotherapists/counselors) because this really gets you known, especially if you are having some success. Secondly, know what your unique selling point is, and use this to sell yourself. I now know what mine is, and I fully intend to exploit it. I have since redesigned my Handcross Hypnotherapy website and I am in the process of designing some business cards. This means that I am well on the way to completing two of my new years resolutions.

I wonder how many other people are getting on with their 2008 goals?

2008 Godaddy discount coupon codes

Being a self confessed domain addict, I am always after discounts from my favourite domain registrar – GoDaddy. Although I have heard many nightmare stories about their hosting, I haven’t heard anything bad about their domain registrar offerings. I register most of my domains through GoDaddy.

Do be careful about where you go to lookup wheather your potential new domain is available though, as some whois services have been known to register domain names that have been checked to see whether they were available. I am currently using www.domaintools.com to research new domain names and have never had a problem.

I have decided to keep a list of current godaddy discount coupon code for everyone to benefit from. See my post on how to get domain privacy for free for extra savings.
