We offer both GeoIP and Credit Card Fraud Detection web services. Our web services are based on the HTTP protocol. There are no databases or software to install.

MaxMind GeoIP Country Web Service
Our GeoIP Country web service is easy to set up and use. You simply pass an IP Address or hostname, and our server returns the ISO 3166 code for that country. Note that the queries never expire, there is no time limit to when you can use the queries.

MaxMind GeoIP City/ISP/Organization Web Service
Our City service is also easy to set up and use, and it returns region code, city, metropolitan code, area code, latitude, longitude, ISP, and organization as well as country. Note that the queries never expire, there is no time limit to when you can use the queries.

Premium minFraud Service queries
The Premium Paid Service returns the BIN Country, Name and Phone instead of just whether the BIN Country matches.

BIN Country and Bank Name Service queries
This service returns the BIN Country, Name and Phone based on a Bank Identification Number. Our BIN database is about 99% complete for the BIN Country, 96% complete for the BIN Name, and 75% complete for BIN Phone.

Proxy Detection queries
This service returns whether an IP address is a known anonymous or open proxy server.

Our services have had 99.97% uptime since October 2002, and we have a backup servers available. For the GeoIP web service, the backup server is geoip2.maxmind.com:8010, (port 8010). For minFraud, the backup service is minfraud2.maxmind.com. We send out a warning e-mail to purchase more queries when the number of queries remaining reaches 10,000, and another e-mail if you run out of queries. You can also set up a plan where you will be automatically billed for more queries if you run low, by selecting one of the plans above and clicking on "Add auto-renewal" on the cart page.
